Everyone is always looking for that perfect wardrobe but how can we do that when most of us don’t prioritise the basics! A capsule wardrobe is about dropping them trends and finding your own style and here’s how I found mine.
It’s all about preferred fit, you can take any of these ideas and make them personal to you. That’s the great thing about fashion and personal style, there is no right and wrong.
Here’s my top tips to creating your own capsule wardrobe
Vest Tops
If there’s one thing you should always have in your wardrobe it’s a good base layer. Vest tops are perfect for this as they can easily be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. I always buy these in neutral colours to coordinate with multiple outfits you can throw in a few fun colours to fit your personal preference.
If you love a specific colour on yourself make it your signature colour! Keep the rest of your wardrobe neutral with that added pop of your favourite colour.
Jeans (Preferred fit)
Everyone loves a good pair of jeans. You don’t need to keep up with the latest trends to decide what style of jean you want to wear, wear what makes you comfortable. For me I love a good pair of skinny jeans for any season, I feel they fit my body much better than most so when it comes to styling jeans these are my go to fit.
Little Black Dress
It’s a tale as old as time The little black dress! The perfect outfit for any occasion (and yes it is okay to have multiple of these) Although the idea of a capsule wardrobe is to keep it simple, how can we choose just one little black dress? Having a few options in different lengths, styles and materials is okay especially if this is a daily essential for you. These dresses are faultless on their own or layered with a cosy cardigan.
Mini Skirt
If you’re a bit of a girly girl like me you can’t go wrong with a basic skirt. If your not feeling the jeans today, switch it up and add a skirt. A little black skirt is the perfect essential that can’t go wrong, pairing nicely with almost any outfit.
Trench Coats
The trench coat is a classic! Add this to any outfit and you instantly get that IT girl look, these coats are perfect for all seasons whether layered over hoodies in the winter or having that extra layer in the autumn or even a light jacket in the spring/summer these coats designed year round wear.
Basic Tees
Of course we can’t forget about those basic tees. Again it’s all personal preference, make your wardrobe unique to you if you like that low cut or loose fitting option there is a basic tee for everyone. These are ideal in neutral colours for a capsule wardrobe as almost any neutral can work well together.
