Do you ever plan to do something and then tell yourself it can wait until Monday? And then Monday rolls around and you don’t do it so you say hmm I’ll start on Monday? If that’s you we’ve all been there and here’s some tips on how to change.
We are constantly living in a world where we look at social media and it looks like everyone has their life together, constantly seeing people’s daily workouts, healthy eating habits and how productive they’ve been. I can tell you this for sure they didn’t wait until Monday, they just did it!
Why do we wait until Monday? Have we conditioned ourselves to think the start of a week means a fresh start just like we do every new year’s or even every month. We tell ourselves if we wait until then we will feel more motivated. But why not start on Wednesday? or that random mid month day? Do what feels good for you, instead of watching everyone else around you, even if it’s not all that it seems, it will still demotivate you and that’s not what we need.
Here’s a few tips on how you can get up and make small changes to get you started on reaching your goals. And here’s the secret… it doesn’t start on Monday!
1. Step Away From Social Media
It can be hard to take time and step away from our phones, especially when Instagram is telling you this workout will give you the flattest stomach then you try it a few time and realise it’s not true and lose all efforts. So why not step away from the social media, weather that’s locking your apps after a certain time so you aren’t continuously scrolling, or putting down your phone away from you for a few hours. It really helps you think more clearly and you will figure out what feels right for you.
Now I’m not telling you to not follow anything on socials and if you find a routine that works for you that great! But don’t allow yourself to feel consumed by it. If you skip a day on a workout that’s okay you don’t have to wait another week to start over again just try again tomorrow.

2. Get Creative!
Stepping away from your phone and finding other outlets can help you figure out what you want. For me it’s designing, I work on my business every opportunity I can outside of my normal job and designing keeps my brain thinking and creating new things. This really helps with my motivation levels and keeps me away from my phone when I need that extra social media detox.
So whether it’s drawing, dancing or photography, do what makes you happy and explore new hobbies. Why not try something new you never know, it could change your life.

3. Join a Club
Joining a club is a sure way to keep you motivated. When you have a set activity in your calendar you’re much more likely to go and do it! It could be a sport or a social club, whatever it is you like to do, find your community. If you can’t why don’t you start it?
Here’s an extra tip, don’t be afraid to do what you want to do. There will be people out there who feel the same and may need that push to get out and do it so you might not just be helping you but others too.

These are just a few tips to get you started. I heard this one phrase on a podcast that I love and keep reminding myself everyday
“If you want change, change what you’re doing!“
So go do it! Whenever you’re ready, not when the calendar tells you too.
